Of interest to the Walsh and Hayes family is that John James Casey Jr. married Helen Lawson (daughter of Mary (Mim) Hayes Lawson and George Lawson). John Sheedy and Bridget Mitchel were the parents of Catherine Sheedy. It is also of interest to the Walsh and Hayes family that the baptism record for Margaret Hayes records her Godfather as a Pt. (probably an abrv. for Patrick) Sheedy (see Hayes section). The baptism record for James Hayes (see Hayes section) records his godfathers name as James Casey; presumably the brother of Mary Ellen Casey. It's also worth noting that during the review of the 1871 Canadian Dominion Directory for Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the names of John and Patrick Sheedy were located. The listing is as follows: John Sheedy, Laborer, 74 Stanley, Toronto Patrick Sheedy, Porter, 62 Power, Toronto At this time it has not been determined that the Patrick Sheedy listed above is the same Pt. Sheedy who was Margaret (Maggie) Hayes's godfather, or if the John Sheedy listed above is Catherine Sheedy's father. The names are documented here for future reference. There is a strong possibility that they are the same people. The importance of these names is that it possibly ties the Sheedy family with the Hayes family, giving a general location of the two families living in Canada. The addresses are important because in order to review the Canadian Census reports you need to locate the name with the address. By chance, during the review of 1868 "Irish Civil Birth's", the name of "Mary Casey" was located. Her father and mother were recorded as James Casey and Ellen Conway. She was born in Ireland, County of Limerick, Parish of Bruff and town of Newtown. Her birth date was listed as July 29, 1868.The occupation of her father James, was Laborer. This "Mary Casey" is most likely the sister of John Casey and the correct daughter of James Casey and Ellen Conway.
